Sri Lanka vs India ODI 1st Preview: Indian White Football Professionals
Meet Lankans Finished in Colombo
Sikhikhar Dhawan of India
Live scores and statistics - Sri Lanka vs India 1st ODI
While the Sri Lankan band was announced about 48 hours before
the start of the series, the sequel is clearly not a word you would like to use
in this context.
After arriving in Sri Lanka in late June, the Indian Team led
by Shikhar Dhawan had ample time to prepare. It may seem like a contradiction
but their opponents - the home party - had been separated a few days ago after
members of their group on their last trip to England were tested for COVID-19.
The side of the second Indian rope? Not to mention the
obvious, India has lost most of its players of its choice, and England are
currently preparing for a five-match Test series. That means the likes of
Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Hardik Pandya will make many of the first
XIs in the world.
Although India reached the Sri Lankan coast with a second
group of ropes, they probably have twice as much experience as their rivals.
Sri Lanka with the exception of Dickwella, Mendis,
Gunathilaka and Perera Sri Lanka is losing the services of the former captain -
you can see how quickly it is changing in these parts of the world - Kusal
Perera after a shoulder injury. Of the changes that have taken place, Dasun
Shanaka has taken over as the captain of white football in Sri Lanka.
Niroshan Dickwella, Kusal Mendis and Danushka Gunathilaka
have been suspended for violating the bio-bubble in England. With Dickwella,
Mendis and Perera missing, Sri Lanka are likely to accompany Minod Bhanuka to
wicket-keeping operations.
Other players who will feature in the newly announced Sri
Lankan team are Banuka Rajapaksa, who was fined by the SLC earlier this month
for breach of contract, Lahiru Udara's untrained striker and Ishan Jayaratne.
Pacers Lahiru Kumara and Kasun Rajitha also found a place in the team.
Sri Lanka is passing by in a bad way, and has been going on
for a long time calling it a lake. The team has lost 7 of its last eight ODIs
this year while losing 12 of its last 13 of its 13. In fact, as of July 2016,
the team has lost 60 and won only 26 ODIs.
All eyes on Shaw, SamsonShikhar Dhawan will open the beating
of the guests next to Prithvi Shaw. Devdutt Padikkal is another option but club
officials will want to invest in the Shaw form. Padikkal has been in contact
with silk but Shaw is clearly at the forefront of the series.
Suryakumar Yadav, who recently impressed in his second T20I
against England, will strike at number 3 and Sanju Samson will take on
wicket-keeping and number
If there is no other anchor in India's ODI wing, Manish
Pandey, despite having unpopular world numbers, is likely to get a match at
number 5. Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya give India balance and fire power at
numbers 6 and 7. India can also look at Krishnappa Gowtham at number 7 but
also, the Krunal had a place.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, India's vice-captain on the trip will be
the team's best player. He will partner with Deepak Chahar or Navdeep Saini to
create a new football attack. Given that Chahar may be called up for the T20Is,
management could look into Navdeep Saini who is in a state of indifference
these days. Kul-Cha might play together.
Sri Lanka are expected to open with Pathum Nissanka and
Avishka Fernando, and Oshada Fernando and Dhananjaya de Silva - who stand out
in the England tour - taking 3rd and 4th place. Newly-appointed captain Dasun
Shanaka Chanakya is expected to hit number 5 and Wanindu Hasaranga at 6.
In the absence of Niroshan Dickwella, Kusal Perera and Kusal
Mendis, Minod Bhanuka is likely to keep wickets.
Chamber Karunaratne, Lahiru Kumara and Dushmantha Chameera
will be the top picking picks in Sri Lanka. Lakshan Sandakan will combine the
spin department with Dhananjaya de Silva and Wanindu Hasaranga.
Here's a look at the XIs that may be playing:
Sri Lanka - Pathum Nissanka, Avishka Fernando, Oshada
Fernando, Dhananjaya de Silva, Dasun Shanaka (c), Wanindu Hasaranga, Minod
Bhanuka (wk), Chamika Karunaratne, Lahiru Kumara, Lakshan Sandakan, Dushmantha
Chameera
India - Shikhar Dhawan (c), Prithvi Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav,
Sanju Samson (wk), Manish Pandey, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar
Kumar, Deepak Chahar / Navdeep Signed, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal
India vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI predictions: Who will win today’s match?
Most of their regular formats are in England to get a Test
assignment, but India is just starting its white football tour in Sri Lanka -
which has three ODIs and more T20s - as favorites. The first ODI will be played
on Sunday, July 18 at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
Both groups have no key staff. While Sikhikhar Dhawan will be
the captain of the Indian team for the first time in his decorating career,
Bhuvneshwar Kumar will take over as deputy southpaw. Sri Lanka, too, has a new
captain to replace Dasun Shanaka, who will take over from the injured Kusal
Perera.
Perera is not the only one missing. Danushka Gunathilaka,
Kusal Mendis and Niroshan Dickwella are serving a one-year sentence after being
found guilty of breaking shells in England, while a delighted left-back Binura
Fernando was reportedly unharmed.
In their last trip to Sri Lanka back in 2017, India reached a
white 5-0 record in the ODI series. ODI head recordings over the past decade
make it read the same way - India has won 24 games since 2011, while the
Islanders have only six wins to show for it.
Apart from looking at the state of the series, India and Sri
Lanka have a lot to play in the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. The
visitors have three carts and a lot of losses, while Sri Lanka are weak near
the bottom with just one win in nine meetings.
India has many opening options to choose from, but Prithvi
Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan should easily play with the popularity of Devdutt
Padikkal and Ruturaj Gaikwad being the combination of preferences. Shaw and
Dhawan stood out on their own and as partners in the Indian Premier League, and
will look forward to continuing in the same sense.
The central order of India may have had a period of time or
two in Manish Pandey and Hardik Pandya, but the rest of the system looks
ignorant. Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson are likely to be shot directly at the
wicket-taker, with Suryakumar Yadav expected to take his place in the No. 3.
The blue men have a lot of slow-bowling options to choose
from - the mystery of the spinner Varun Chakravarthy, the experimental wrist of
Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav, all around Krishnappa Gowtham and Krunal
Pandya, and young Rahul Chahar. They can't go wrong with being selected in this
department, as all these losers can do a lot for them.
Speed attacks seem small on paper. While Bhuvneshwar is the
undisputed leader of the list, he has Deepak Chahar and Navdeep Saini of the
company. Chetan Sakariya is an exciting new addition to the side, his left arm
variety gives him a great edge when it comes to building important matchup.
Sri Lanka has recalled some of the most common names in the
Indian series. Banuka Rajapaksa, who recently made headlines for allegedly
breaking a contract, has returned to the mix, as is Pacer Lahiru Kumara. Young
player Avishka Fernando is returning to the team after recovering from an
injury, while Dhananjaya de Silva is the vice-captain.
The Sri Lankan team is a great combination of youth and
experience, but whether they will be able to fit well on the pitch remains to
be seen. Shanaka has been the team captain before, but now he has a lot more to
put on one opposition team in world cricket.
Various experts and former players have already chosen India
to launch another ODI series in Sri Lanka. The Lankan strike system is very
exhausted, it gives weight to what is being said and raises doubts about the
skeptics ’ability to overcome the Indian hurricane.
The R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo has an average of over 300
innings, with the spin expected to play a major role in the ODI series. Sri
Lanka have won each of the last five matches in the area, but India is a
completely different fish tank.
It’s hard to choose against India by opening the series, even
if the first-choice players aren’t there. The great depth of their squad,
combined with Sri Lanka’s fierce game against England was recently
commemorated, pointing to a one-sided ODI series.

Ganguly's ODI record in a series
Focusing on captaincy in Sri Lanka, Sikhikhar Dhawan is in
that phase of his career, where he is ready to rewrite records every time he
leaves the field. Dhawan will enter the three-match ODI series against Sri
Lanka with the eyes of big signs.
The limited tour of the Sri Lankan overs, consisting of three
ODIs and several T20s, will start on July 18 in Colombo. The left-hander was
handed the reins of the team after Virat Kohli and other key players were sent
to England in the WTC Final against New Zealand and a Test-five series against
the host.
Dhawan pleads to break Ganguly's record
Sikhikhar Dhawan has a chance to break India’s Sourav
Ganguly’s record of India’s second fastest batsman to reach 6,000 ODI runs.
General captain Virat Kohli remains the fastest (136 innings) to reach this
distance, followed by Ganguly (147 innings) and Dhawan has played 139 ODI innings.
To date, Dhawan has amassed 5977 runs in 139 ODI innings with
a whopping 45.28 run and a 93.9 strike with 17 runs. Dhawan has only 23 runs in
being the tenth Indian batsman with 6,000 runs or more in ODI cricket. If he
wins the game during the series he can join the elite team.
Sachin Tendulkar (18,426), Virat Kohli (12,169), Sourav
Ganguly (11,363), Rahul Dravid (10,889), MS Dhoni (10,773), Mohammad Azharuddin
(9,378), Rohit Sharma (9,205), Yuvraj Singh (8,70 (8,70) ) leads the Indian
list of top athletes in ODI cricket.
Dhawan eyes ODI 1,000 run with Sri Lanka
In the upcoming trip, Dhawan could be the only Indian batsman
to finish 1,000 runs against Sri Lanka. The frontrunner has won 983 runs
against the island with 70.21. He has struck four hundred and five of them.
"It is a great achievement for me to be the captain of
the Indian side. As a leader, my idea is to keep everyone together and happy
that is the most important thing," Dhawan told Star Sports 'Follow the
Blues'.
"We have a team of lovely guys, great support staff, and
we've worked before."
