Jeff Bezos doesn’t have to wait long
to regain his throne as the richest man in the world: A few hours after the
loss of French fashion star Bernard Arnault, he is now back at No. 1 after
Amazon stocks rose when markets opened in New York. As of 1.30pm ET, Bezos is
earning a staggering $ 188.4 billion, ahead of Arnault's $ 187.3 billion.
The two men entered the weekend on
limited terms, worth $ 186 billion each, after shares in Arnault luxury goods
company LVMH met in the second half of last week. LVMH stock performed much
better on Monday, closing about 1% more and increasing Arnault's fortune by $
1.7 billion - enough to briefly cover Bezos and become the richest man in the
world in a few hours. Amazon's stock has since risen more than 1% from 1.30pm
on Monday, bringing Bezos to $ 2.4 billion today.
Arnault has briefly listed itself as
the richest person in the world several times already: Just before the markets
closed on Friday in the U.S., Arnault was about $ 100 million more than Bezos,
before ending the day with the same amount. At about 10:30 a.m. on ET on
December 16, 2019, Arnault pushed past Bezos to search for Number 1 for the
first time, until Amazon shares closed higher and Arnault returned to number
two.
While Bezos is now trading a top spot
with Arnault, he was previously trapped in a fierce competition with Tesla boss
Elon Musk, currently the world's third richest man with a net worth of $ 150.8
billion. In early January, Musk found Bezos to be rich on three separate
occasions - on January 8, 12 and 14 - before the founder of Amazon agreed to
return on January 15.
All three men have seen dramatic
growth in their numbers throughout the epidemic, collectively earning more than
$ 300 billion. With Forbes accounting for the remainder of its 2020
Billionaires World list at a major market risk in March 2020, Bezos has earned
more than $ 75 billion, compared to Musk's nearly $ 127 billion and Arnault's $
111 billion . Bezos' value has reached $ 200 billion twice: first in August
2020 and again at the end of last month in April 2021.

who also owns names like Fendi, Christian Dior and Givenchy. Arnault's fortune

THE RESURRECTION OF LIFE
European luxury homes saw a dramatic
increase during the closure. This increase is driven by consumers in China,
helping LVMH record $ 17 billion in the first quarter of 2021. This is a 32
percent increase from last year.
Not only LVMH, with the value of
Francois Pinault with luxury brands like Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen and
Gucci in his bed, increased from $ 27 billion on March 18, 2020 to $ 55.1
billion on Monday. Alain Wetheimer and Gerard Wertheimer of Chanel are now
