Is black fungus contagious?

There are many fears about black fungus and two others, cases recently found in India. People are scared and ignorance only adds to the paranoia. Here we have tried to answer one valid question - Is black fungus contagious? Can it spread from person to person? The simple answer is that black fungus is not contagious and cannot spread from person to person. AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria confirmed the news. He said, “It is not contagious. Low security leads to Black Fungus. About 90-95% of people have diabetes and are given steroids. “Although black fungus is not contagious, it spreads from fungal structures in the air or in the environment. However, it must be understood that there are fungi and germs in our bodies that are kept under our control. When the immune system is compromised by the misuse of steroids, diabetes, cancer treatment, it allows these bacteria and fungi to multiply and spread the infection. It should be noted that many young doctors strongly advise people to ignore symptoms such as swelling in any part of the face, pain on one side of the face, chronic headaches, nasal congestion, or eye problems. Timely infection helps with better treatment.
