New Delhi, May 24: With the growing number of cases of mucormycosis seen in Covid-19 patients across the country, All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) director Randeep Guleria said black fungus is not contagious.

Srinagar, May 23 (UNI) To reassure people that there is no need to worry as Mucormycosis or black fungus is not a new and contagious disease, Medical Superintendent Chest Disease (CD) Hospital Dr Naveed Nazir Shah said on Sunday blood pressure control.

 

“Mucormycosis is not a new disease and is not contagious. We just need to avoid self-medication like steroids, targeting high-risk patients and controlling blood sugar, ”said Dr Naveed.

He said according to the Head of Department (HoD) Oral and Maxillofacial surgery GDC Srinagar they had successfully dealt with one case of Mucormycosis in November 2020 and another case of strong suspects who were also allowed. "Both COVID and Diabetes Post," he added.
