in bad weather on Tuesday afternoon. Nineteen crew members and contractors were
on board. According to the U.S. Coast Guard, at least six people were rescued
and moved to a safer place.
The
129-ft lifeboat is used for oil and gas exploration at sea and can carry over
40,000 gallons [40,000 L] of oil. It is located about 8 miles from the sea,
south of Port Fourchon, Louisiana, 20 miles west of the nearest US Coast Guard
station on the Grand Isle.

As efforts continue to build LNG
infrastructure in the maritime industry, the new agreement seeks to build
resilience in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. The new terminal will
provide port access to the port and the plan requires the introduction of a
boat compliant with the Jones Act by 2023.
Puget LNG and GAC Bunker Fuels Limited
have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to co-operate in the supply and sale
of marine LNG fuel from a new LNG port for marine customers in the Pacific
Northwest. When Tuoma's Tacoma LNG Terminal operates in the second half of
2021, it will be the first expedition on the west coast of North America to
provide direct access to the port of the houseboat.
The companies highlighted the
growing LNG-led shipping order letter, saying it emphasized the need to build
LNG supply infrastructure across all major ports and regions, including the
Pacific Northwest. Puget LNG's DNV study on the feasibility of a cargo ship
providing LNG as fuel for ships in the Puget Sound area concluded that the
discovery and cost of natural gas, especially in North America, has made the
use of LNG more attractive to sailors' solutions.
Under the new agreement, GAC
Bunker Fuels, a Dubai-based GAC Group division, will issue an application for
the LNG compliant LNG aircraft to be built, operated and operated by a third
party. The concept calls for a boat that will be flexible in size and design to
serve multiple shipping customers. The ship is expected to operate in 2023 and
unload at Puget LNG port in Tacoma, the boat will be able to transport bunker
ships to port.
"This exciting entry into
the Pacific Northwest and Puget LNG is a recent expansion of our initiative in
the U.S., adding to GAC's growing LNG portfolio," said Nicholas Browne, Global Director of GAC Bunker Fuels.
The natural gas station Tacoma
has been the focus of mass protests by local communities and environmental
groups. The liquid plant was approved in 2019, but environmental groups
affiliated with the Native American nation from the region have been demanding
that the plant's licenses be changed. Their case is currently pending before
the Washington Pollution Control Hearings Board and environmentalists arguing
that the requirements of the Environmental Policies Act have not been met in
this case. Puget Sound Energy and representatives of Clean Air Agency say the
plant has undergone numerous revisions at the state, national, and local level
and has met all the requirements. The Pollution Control Board may order further
review of environmental analysis and permits.
The planned launch of LNG
bunkering in the Tacoma area is part of GAC's broader effort to improve LNG
infrastructure in the United States. Last year, GAC Bunker Fuels provided
trading and shipping services to Fur Ven, the first non-US ship to receive LNG
at the U.S. port. An 18,000-product water / chemical ship, owned by the Swedish
Furtank, docked at a beach in the harbor of Jacksonville, Florida.
GAC Bunker Fuels has also
entered into a Head of Agreement with a Pilot LNG in Houston that will provide
marine LNG fuel to be delivered to a customer base ship in Houston, Texas City,
Galveston and Galveston Offshore Lightering Area.
